Gymnastics BC

  • Industry: Non-profit / Sport

  • HQ: Vancouver, BC

  • Partner since 2026

  • Service: HR Project

Gymnastics BC (GymBC) supports the governance, promotion and development of competitive and recreational gymnastics across British Columbia, serving member clubs, athletes, coaches, judges and families.

The challenge
GymBC wanted to strengthen its existing HR foundations, update policies to reflect current requirements and practices, and support leadership in navigating people challenges. They also needed a clear, repeatable CEO performance review process that a volunteer Board could confidently administer.

How we helped
We partnered with GymBC to modernize their employee handbook, clarify policy language and strengthen alignment with BC employment standards and day-to-day operations. We provided a trusted sounding board for the CEO on employee relations, performance and difficult conversations, helping leadership work through situations fairly and consistently.

We also refined the CEO performance review framework, clarified responsibilities and guided the Board through the review independently of the CEO, making the process practical and meaningful for future review cycles.

The results

  • An updated, accessible employee handbook aligned with current operations

  • Greater clarity and consistency across HR policies and practices

  • Increased leadership confidence in navigating employee relations

  • A streamlined, repeatable CEO performance review process

  • Clearer roles for the Board and Personnel Committee in evaluating CEO performance

“Beacon HR’s fractional services helped to fill a gap in our small not-for-profit organization. They streamlined our HR policies, guided our employee performance measurement strategies, and supported leadership in managing HR challenges with energy, positivity, experience and expertise that can’t be matched.”
